Greetings from Ludwigsburg!

This is just a quick note to say how proud I am of all our students for their great work while in Rome. They were polite, attentive, and a lot of fun while we toured the fascinating city. Our pedometer reported that we walked at least eight miles each full day in Rome, in very warm weather with not a cloud in the sky. Not once did I hear a complaint, but instead saw our students engaged with what our guides were saying and showing them. And, despite a couple technical difficulties with our flight to Frankfurt, everyone acted like a true professional.

Speaking for myself and Mrs. Miller, we are so happy to be "at home" again with our hosts, the Gehlens, here in Ludwigsburg (next to Bietigheim-Bissingen). We had a great day celebrating a Gehlen family birthday here, as well as a long distance shout out to my dad who celebrated his own birthday today (and Fathers' Day of course). Then this evening we headed into town for a public viewing of the Germany-Denmark soccer match. After the German victory it was so much fun to watch people from Ludwigsburg and even surrounding towns walking and running into "the tunnel" - a main street underpass to celebrate with horns, vuvuzelas, flags, singing and shouting. Knowing that the police would let the celebration happen by closing the roads, we had the opportunity to walk a bit further to our car parked outside of the own center and while doing so got to see the cars driving in draped with German flags with horns honking. It's so wonderful to see such national excitement!

Attached are some pictures from our time in Rome as well as the viewing from today. If I can figure out how to post video of the tunnel, I'll do that as well.
