Passports & Airport Procedures

When students report to South High School at 4:45 PM on the day of departure, they will first meet with their designated chaperone.  At that time, chaperones will check to make sure that each student has their Passport, and then hand them a Passport wallet (provided by our travel agent).  Students will then put this around their necks, and tuck it under their tour shirt.

Following a group picture, we will load motor coaches and depart for O'Hare.  Students will keep their passports with them, around their neck, through check-in, and security.

‘Chaperones groups’ will check-in together at the airport. After the entire group has moved through security, the chaperone will collect the boarding passes for each student.  Boarding passes will be handed back to the student just prior to boarding.

Once students are seated on the aircraft, faculty will collect passports, and be responsible for them until they are needed again in Rome, as the group moves through Customs.  Following customs, passports will again be collected and held by chaperones.

Students are encouraged to use the passport wallet, tucked into their shirts, to carry cash during the tour.
